The top Congress leaders Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Digvijay Singh are yet to go public with their take on the exit polls that have offered a contradictory verdict on the fate of MP.

Umaria: Exit polls were expected to clear the cloud over who would form the next government in Madhya Pradesh, but they only led to more confusion by offering a contradictory verdict. Some predicted a win for BJP and others gave Congress a much needed edge.

Confident of the BJP’s win, Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday declared that his party will again form government in the state.

“I have been with the public day and night so there is no surveyor bigger than me. We are winning in Madhya Pradesh,” Chouhan said while leaving for Datia from Bandhavgarh where he spent three days on vacation.

Chouhan said the BJP government is necessary for “the bhanja-bhanjis, farmers, the poor and the public”. “The voters have given their support to the BJP in the wider interest of the public and the BJP would form the government with majority,” he said with certainty.
With most exit polls auguring a close shave in MP the speculations regarding the possible role of ‘others’ is also being debated. Asked if the party will seek the support of independents and other parties in case of a close finish, BJP state president Rakesh Singh said the party’s priority will be those leaders who contested on BJP tickets.  “We will form the next government,” he added.

While the top Congress leaders Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Digvijay Singh are yet to go public with their take on the exit poll results, the party’s second-rung leaders have begun celebrating the predictions. The outcome, if not in Congress’ favour, will be a big setback for MPCC chief Kamal Nath who had predicted 140 seats for Congress.
